EKO HOT BLOG reports that his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, disclosed that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, played key roles in facilitating Igboho’s clearance to return home.
Koiki said the involvement of the monarchs and other influential stakeholders across the South West paved the way for his return, although no specific date has been announced.
“This is a moment of joy for Ibadanland and Yorubaland as a whole. Chief Adeyemo is now cleared to return to Nigeria and is no longer being sought by government authorities,” Koiki said.
He added, “With the support of our royal father, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Sunday Adeyemo is now free to return home. He is a free man and will soon be back in Ibadan.”
According to him, details of travel arrangements will be communicated in the coming days.
In 2025, Igboho openly expressed frustration over his prolonged stay outside the country, saying he was tired of living in exile. During a visit to the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Olusola Alao, in Oyo State, he appealed to the administration of President Bola Tinubu to remove his name from Nigeria’s wanted list.
Igboho said he was declared wanted under the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari for an offence he claimed was unknown to him. He said the situation prevented him from using a Nigerian passport and accessing his bank accounts, despite favourable court rulings.

His camp later expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, Yoruba monarchs and supporters worldwide for standing by him during his years away from home.
Igboho rose to national prominence in January 2021 after issuing an eviction notice to herders in Igangan, Oyo State, following the killing of Fatai Aborode. His activism later attracted security attention, leading to a raid on his Ibadan residence in July 2021. He fled the country but was arrested in the Benin Republic and detained until his release in March 2022.
