The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false and misleading reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be dropped as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued in Abuja, the APC National Working Committee described the reports as “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless.” The statement was signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

The ruling party cautioned media organisations against amplifying what it described as rumours propagated by “mischievous news sources of questionable provenance,” warning that such reports were aimed at creating confusion and sowing discord in the polity.
The APC also advised ministers, senior government officials and party leaders to desist from engaging in or fuelling political speculation, urging them instead to concentrate on governance and party responsibilities.
According to the party, the focus of the administration and the APC remains the successful implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that political activities ahead of the 2027 elections are premature.

“The ban on political activities remains in force under existing laws and electoral regulations,” the statement noted, adding that President Tinubu should not be distracted from governance.
The party reaffirmed its support for both President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, stating that the administration’s ongoing reforms were already yielding results in economic transformation, improved living standards and national development.
The APC maintained that any attempt to speculate about the 2027 ticket at this stage was unnecessary and counterproductive, reiterating its commitment to unity, stability and effective governance.
