EKO HOT BLOG reports that police said the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on January 20, 2026, when the Human Resources Manager and the Chief Security Officer of the affected schools separately reported receiving threatening WhatsApp messages.
According to the command, the messages were sent from the same unidentified phone number and claimed that explosive devices had been planted within the school premises, triggering fear among staff and parents.
The Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, said operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, the Counter Terrorism Unit, and other tactical teams were immediately deployed to the schools to assess the threat.
A thorough search was conducted at both locations, after which the police confirmed that no explosives were found and the environment was safe.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Kosiso Chukwem Nenyem, a resident of Okota, who was identified as the sender of the threatening messages.
Police said the suspect initially claimed that he lost his mobile phone in November 2025. However, investigations revealed that the same phone line continued to receive calls from his family members during the period the threats were made.
Authorities also recovered his SIM card, which reportedly linked him directly to the messages sent to the schools.
The police stated that preliminary findings showed the suspect acted alone and deliberately intended to cause panic and disrupt activities within the schools.

The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
