Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking during the meeting, Oba Aderibigbe expressed deep excitement over hosting the royal gathering, noting that it was his first opportunity in four years.
“It has been four years, since 2022, that I last had the privilege to host my brothers, and I am highly excited to receive them today,” he said.
The monarch explained that the forum comprises Ijebu-origin Obas who are based in Lagos State and described the gathering as a necessary step toward unity.
“We are all Ijebu monarchs in Lagos State, and it is only right that we unite ourselves, just as the Awori and Egun have done,” he stated.
According to him, the meeting rotates among members and currently consists of over 40 Obas drawn from Ikorodu, Epe Central, Ibeju-Lekki, Eredo, Ikosi-Ejinrin, and other parts of the state.
Oba Aderibigbe noted that the preservation of Ijebu culture and the strengthening of security within their communities remain top priorities.
“Our culture must be protected, and we must work together to build strong security across our communities,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of mutual support among monarchs, stressing the principle of brother helping brother in matters of development and progress.
On language preservation, the Alayandelu urged fellow monarchs to promote the use of the Ijebu language.
“Ijebu is our language and our origin. It must not be forgotten,” he added.
The royal father further disclosed that deliberations at the meeting also touched on collective prayers and support ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly seeking divine guidance in the process that will produce the next Lagos State Governor.
Calling for humility and respect among traditional rulers, Oba Aderibigbe cited the Ooni of Ife as a model of leadership.
“Despite the power of his throne, the Ooni of Ife still gives respect to other monarchs. That is how we must all conduct ourselves,” he said.
Other monarchs present at the gathering included the Gbadewolu of Araromi, who commended the Alayandelu for promoting unity among Ijebu Obas and reaffirmed his commitment to collective progress.
The Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri described the meeting as timely, noting that unity among traditional rulers remains key to grassroots development.
The Alade Uraka of Poka emphasised the need for sustained cultural education among youths, while the Omola of Odomola called for continuous collaboration among monarchs to ensure peace and stability across their domains.
