An 18 seater bus conveying passengers to the burial of Bayelsa State’s late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has been involved in a fatal road accident.
According to Sahara Reporters, the accident occurred along the Toru Orua axis of the Sagbama Ekeremor Road.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that initial reports indicated that the crash happened on a major route in the area and claimed the lives of more than 10 persons.
Several other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency medical treatment.
The victims were travelling to attend the burial ceremony of Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who died suddenly on December 11, 2025.
The late deputy governor reportedly collapsed in his office at the Government House in Yenagoa and was pronounced dead at the age of 60.
His burial is scheduled to hold today, January 30, 2026, in his hometown of Ofoni, located in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The burial follows a series of funeral activities, including a Day of Tributes that attracted several prominent personalities.
Among those who attended the tributes were former President Goodluck Jonathan, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and former Governor Seriake Dickson.

The tragic accident has cast a shadow over the burial activities, as families and colleagues of the deceased mourn both the loss of the deputy governor and the lives claimed by the crash.
