EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident occurred at about 9.14 pm in a building housing four offices, three of which were affected by the blaze. The affected section included offices used for record storage, while nearby facilities were also threatened by the fire.
The fire was suspected to have been triggered by an unidentified individual who set dry bushes on fire within the school premises. The flames reportedly spread rapidly from the bush into the building before emergency responders arrived.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, said firefighters responded promptly after receiving a distress call and were able to contain the fire.
Adekunle stated that the quick intervention of the firefighters prevented the inferno from spreading to other parts of the institution, including the Biology Laboratory and surrounding buildings. He added that several important files and records were successfully recovered during the operation.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Alabi Muhammed, cautioned institutions and members of the public against indiscriminate bush burning, especially within and around school environments.
He also advised institutions to ensure proper vegetation clearance, maintain buffer zones around buildings, store sensitive documents securely, and provide basic firefighting equipment to minimise damage in the event of fire incidents.

The Kwara State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
