The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the redeployment of two senior police officers to new leadership positions in Imo and Plateau states.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the redeployments were communicated through a police wireless message issued from the office of the Force Secretary at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the message, Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police in Imo State. Commissioner of Police Bassey Samuel Ewah has also been posted to Plateau State as the new Commissioner of Police.
The communication, dated February 3, 2026, was circulated to top police officials nationwide. These included Deputy Inspectors General, Assistant Inspectors General, state Commissioners of Police, and heads of specialised units such as Interpol, Counter Terrorism, Mobile Police, Border Patrol, Maritime Police, Air Wing, Bomb Disposal, as well as other operational and administrative departments.
The redeployments take effect immediately.
Meanwhile, suspected bandits have reportedly killed a soldier and five residents during an attack on Zurak community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack was said to have occurred on Monday at about 3:00 pm, following a gun battle between the assailants and security forces. Three soldiers were reported missing after the confrontation.

Confirming the incident, a youth leader in Wase, Shapi’i Sambo, said the attackers had earlier set houses ablaze in the Sabon Gari community before advancing to Zurak.
He added that the bandits looted shops, carted away food items and valuables, and caused widespread panic among residents of the affected communities.
