The Premier Club of Epe Division, Epe Club, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, held a grand ceremony to celebrate and immortalise one of its most distinguished leaders, Alhaji (Chief) Shakiru Akanni Seriki Bamu (GCEC), at the Regency Hall, Otunba Jobi-Fele Way, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

The event attracted political leaders, royal fathers, captains of industry, and prominent stakeholders from across Lagos State and beyond.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, was represented by the Chief of Staff, while the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly represented the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
In his welcome address, the President of Epe Club, Chief Olayemi Dada, FCA, described the occasion as historic.
“Today’s celebration is not a mere ceremony; it is a tribute to a life of sacrifice, courage, and unwavering commitment to the growth of Epe Division.”
He described the celebrant as a mentor and builder of leaders who invested in people long before youth participation in governance became mainstream.
“Alhaji Seriki Bamu is not just a leader; he is a builder of leaders who believed in people when others doubted them.”
The lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency, Hon. Wale Raji, praised the celebrant for laying a strong foundation for leadership in the division.
“Baba Bamu laid the foundation for responsible leadership in Epe Division, and many of us in public service today are beneficiaries of his guidance and discipline.”
Chairmen of Local Governments and LCDAs across Epe Division commended the celebrant for his unifying role and contributions to community development.
Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, applauded Epe Club for celebrating its heroes while alive.
“This initiative by Epe Club is worthy of emulation and should be adopted by other communities across the state.”
Chairman of the occasion and Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, praised the club for its consistency and foresight, noting that the launch of the facility named after the celebrant symbolised enduring legacy and institutional memory.
“The launch of this facility in honour of Alhaji Seriki Bamu reflects the values of continuity, leadership, and service that Epe Club represents.”
As part of the ceremony, the club formally launched a facility named after Alhaji (Chief) Shakiru Akanni Seriki Bamu, cementing his legacy within the history of Epe Club and Epe Division.
The event featured a documentary on the life and legacy of the celebrant, cultural performances, goodwill messages, and musical renditions.
