EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting focused on recent security operations in Kaduna, with Governor Sani briefing the President on the rescue of worshippers abducted from churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area.
The governor provided updates on joint operations involving state and federal security agencies, which led to the gradual release of the victims over the past week.
Worshippers abducted from three churches in Kurmin Wali on January 18, 2026, have now regained their freedom. A resident of the community told TheCable on Wednesday that the remaining victims held by the gunmen were released this week, ending the mass abduction that occurred during church services.
Gunmen had invaded three churches in the community on January 18 and abducted about 167 worshippers. The police initially denied the incident before later confirming that the abductions had taken place.
On February 1, 2026, 80 of the abducted worshippers were released, while others remained in captivity until their eventual release days later.
Sources disclosed that the freed worshippers are currently in the custody of the Kaduna State Government, pending an official announcement. Security agencies have continued operations in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure sustained peace in affected communities.

Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies to address insecurity across the state, while President Tinubu commended ongoing efforts aimed at protecting lives and property.
