The pupils and teachers rescued after spending weeks in captivity following their abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have arrived at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, for their formal handover to the state government.
The victims were brought to the secretariat on Monday by senior military officers led by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to The Nation, the rescued victims arrived in a heavily secured convoy comprising about 10 Nigerian Army buses and several other military vehicles.
Upon arrival, the pupils and teachers were escorted into the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, where Governor Seyi Makinde, senior government officials and other dignitaries were waiting to receive them.
The ceremony is expected to formally transfer responsibility for the victims from the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Army, to the Oyo State Government following the successful rescue operation.
Also present at the event were service commanders and heads of various security agencies in the state, alongside top government officials who had assembled ahead of the victims’ arrival.
The formal handover marks another phase in the recovery process for the rescued pupils and teachers after their prolonged captivity.
Following the ceremony, the Oyo State Government is expected to commence comprehensive rehabilitation and psychosocial support programmes to aid the victims’ physical and emotional recovery before they are reunited with their families and communities.

The rescued pupils and teachers regained their freedom after spending nearly two months in captivity, bringing relief to their families and residents across Oyo State who had anxiously awaited their safe return.
