President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, while Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, was represented by the Chief Whip of the House.
In his welcome address, President of Epe Club, Chief Olayemi Dada, FCA, described the gathering as a landmark moment in the club’s history, stressing that the occasion went beyond celebration.
He said the event was designed to pay tribute to a life defined by sacrifice, courage and unwavering commitment to the growth of Epe Division, noting that Alhaji Seriki Bamu had consistently invested in people long before youth participation in governance became fashionable.

According to Dada, the celebrant exemplified leadership rooted in mentorship, discipline and service, adding that many of today’s leaders in the division benefitted from his guidance and foresight.
The lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency, Hon. Wale Raji, echoed similar sentiments, describing Alhaji Seriki Bamu as a pillar of leadership whose influence shaped responsible governance in the division.
He said several public office holders in Epe today trace their leadership values to the foundation laid by the celebrant.

Chairmen of local governments and LCDAs across Epe Division also commended Alhaji Seriki Bamu for his unifying role and sustained contributions to grassroots development, while a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, applauded Epe Club for choosing to honour its heroes while they are still alive.
Tobun described the initiative as worthy of emulation by other communities across Lagos State.
Chairman of the occasion and Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, praised the consistency and vision of Epe Club, noting that the formal unveiling of a facility named after Alhaji Seriki Bamu symbolised continuity, institutional memory and enduring legacy.
He said the gesture reflected the core values of leadership, service and commitment to community progress, which the club represents.

As part of the ceremony, the club officially launched a facility named in honour of Alhaji (Chief) Shakiru Akanni Seriki Bamu, further cementing his place in the history of Epe Club and Epe Division.
The event featured a documentary highlighting the life and legacy of the celebrant, cultural displays, goodwill messages and musical performances.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alausa also disclosed that the Federal Government had enrolled no fewer than 250,000 young Nigerians in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme nationwide, with plans to scale the initiative to one million beneficiaries within the next two years.
He said the programme reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to practical skill development as a pathway to employment, self-reliance and economic sustainability.
According to the minister, beneficiaries of the programme would be equipped with practical skills and supported with starter packs and access to low-interest loans upon completion.
Dr. Alausa, who was inducted as a member of Epe Club during the ceremony, thanked the club for the honour and commended the recognition accorded to Alhaji Seriki Bamu, describing it as a gesture that would inspire future leaders and reinforce positive social values.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to focus on opportunities for growth and national progress rather than negative narratives, adding that the country continues to make steady strides under the current administration.

Hamzat encouraged young people to emulate the leadership qualities, resilience and community spirit exemplified by the honorary recipient.
Earlier, Chief Olayemi Dada noted that Epe Club has sustained its tradition of supporting indigent students and equipping public health centres across the division, stressing that the celebration was part of a broader effort to honour individuals who have made lasting contributions to the community.
The ceremony also featured fundraising for a proposed ultra-modern ALH. Shakiri Akanni hall and attracted wide attendance from across the state.
