Eko Hot Blog reports that in a congratulatory message signed by the Initiator of EDPA, Rt. Hon. Comrade Fagbodun Oluwadamilare O., the group noted that the recognition reflects the monarch’s visionary leadership, intellectual depth, and sustained commitment to good governance, innovation, and societal values in an increasingly digital world.
“This prestigious national recognition reflects Your Majesty’s visionary leadership, intellectual depth, and continuous commitment to good governance, innovation, and the protection of societal values in a rapidly evolving digital age,” the statement read.
EDPA stated that the invitation of the traditional ruler to a summit of national and strategic importance highlights the growing relevance of traditional institutions in modern policy conversations, particularly in areas of data protection, digital rights, cybersecurity, and ethical leadership.
“Your Majesty’s invitation underscores the fact that traditional rulers remain vital stakeholders in Nigeria’s development architecture,” the assembly noted.
The group further highlighted the advantages attached to naming the monarch a Data Privacy Royal Ambassador, including bridging tradition and technology, enhancing public trust and grassroots awareness, strengthening national data protection advocacy, and promoting ethical leadership in the digital space.
“As a respected royal father, His voice would significantly increase public confidence and grassroots awareness on data protection, privacy rights, and digital responsibility,” EDPA stated.
The assembly also expressed confidence that the royal ambassadorial role would support national and international best practices in digital governance while providing advisory value to policymakers, regulators, communities, and the private sector.
EDPA reaffirmed its support for the monarch’s role in advancing responsible digital transformation and protecting citizens’ rights.
“We stand firmly with Your Majesty in advancing conversations that protect citizens, strengthen institutions, and promote responsible digital transformation,” the statement added.
The group concluded by praying for continued wisdom, sound health, and greater impact for the monarch as he continues to represent the traditional institution with dignity, excellence, and progressive vision.
