Operatives of the Oyo State Fire Service have rescued a 65-year-old woman from a fire outbreak in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman of the agency, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday.

According to him, the fire occurred on Friday evening at a residential building located beside a primary healthcare centre in the Elekuro area of Ibadan.
Akinwande disclosed that the inferno destroyed property worth millions of naira before firefighters arrived at the scene.
He explained that the fire broke out in the second room of a boys’ quarters within an old six-room residential building.

“On arrival at the scene, our officers discovered that the second room of the boys’ quarters in an ancient residential building was already engulfed in flames,” he said.
“Our personnel swiftly took action and successfully curtailed the fire, preventing it from spreading to other rooms and the main building.”
The fire service boss added that the elderly woman sustained serious injuries during the incident and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed, while authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
