The accident led to traffic gridlock on the busy highway as officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps worked to remove the damaged vehicles from the road.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said one of the drivers sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
A witness, Ibukun Victoria, said the other driver suffered minor injuries, noting that the injured driver reportedly sustained a fracture in his leg.
Another motorist who witnessed the crash attributed the accident to waste materials allegedly left on the highway.
When journalists visited the scene, slippery debris was observed on the road between the Arepo and Magboro axis of the expressway.
The driver of the American Cola truck, Yakubu Musa, who sustained minor injuries, said the slippery substance on the highway caused his vehicle to sway before he eventually lost control.
According to him, the truck struck the median barrier after he struggled unsuccessfully to stabilise it.
“I was coming from Ikeja and heading to Sagamu to load the truck. The truck started swaying around the Arepo area, but I tried all I could before I lost control around the Punch bridge and it hit the median barrier,” he said.
Musa added that several other vehicles were affected by the slippery debris on the highway, with some motorists reporting broken windscreens and damaged traffic indicators.
Another driver, John Emmanuel, who assisted in the rescue efforts, said authorities should identify and hold accountable those responsible for dumping the waste on the road.

“The person responsible for the waste on the road should be arrested,” he said.
A police officer at the scene declined to comment on the incident, stating that he was not authorised to speak to the media.
Officials of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency later arrived at the scene and began directing traffic to ease the congestion caused by the crash.
