Other members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) were also present in court for the hearing, which centres on the struggle over the party’s national leadership, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

The appeal is the latest development in the prolonged internal crisis rocking the opposition party, a conflict that has largely divided the PDP between a bloc aligned with Governor Makinde and another loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The legal battle followed an earlier judgment by a Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, which voided the PDP National Convention held in the state on November 15, 2025.
In that ruling, Justice Uche Agomoh restrained members of the Tanimu Turaki-led NWC from presenting themselves as the party’s national officers.
The court further acknowledged the faction associated with Minister Nyesom Wike, declaring that the Caretaker Committee headed by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised leadership of the PDP until a properly conducted national convention is held.

Rejecting the decision, the Turaki-led faction dismissed the judgment and announced its intention to challenge it at the Court of Appeal.
The PDP has been embroiled in internal leadership conflicts since its poor showing in the 2023 general elections, with rival groups laying claim to the party’s national structure.
Despite several efforts to resolve the crisis, the party has continued to grapple with intense legal and political battles over its leadership.
