The Lagos State Government has announced a partial closure of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to allow the Federal Ministry of Works carry out urgent rehabilitation on damaged sections of the road.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the repairs will affect the stretch between U-Turn Bus Stop and Sango Tollgate, covering both inbound and outbound lanes.

The four-week project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 11 February, 2026 and end on Wednesday, 11 March, 2026.
To reduce traffic congestion, the rehabilitation will be carried out in two phases.
Phase One, which will run from 11 February to 4 March, will focus on the Abeokuta-bound carriageway from U-Turn Bus Stop inward Sango Tollgate.
During this period, traffic heading towards Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate will be diverted to one side of the road, approximately 20 metres away from the active construction zone. Work will be executed one lane at a time.
After completing one half, traffic will be redirected to the rehabilitated section while work continues on the remaining portion. Motorists travelling tow

ards Lagos will not be affected during this phase.
Phase Two will take place from 4 March to 11 March and will focus on the Lagos-bound stretch from Obadeyi Bus Stop to Ekoro Junction.
Traffic heading towards Lagos/Abule-Egba will be diverted through one side of the road, about 20 metres from the work area, with normal flow restored after the construction zone.
As in Phase One, work will be carried out in halves to ensure movement continues. Traffic towards Abeokuta will remain uninterrupted during this stage.
The state government assured residents that adequate traffic management measures will be deployed throughout the duration of the repairs.
Motorists have been advised to plan their trips in advance, obey traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic officials to ensure smooth movement.
Authorities appealed for patience and understanding, noting that the repairs are necessary to improve road safety and driving conditions for all users.
