Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has organised a sensitisation programme alongside the inauguration of all statutory committees at the Council Secretariat, in a renewed drive to strengthen transparency, accountability and effective public procurement processes.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the programme was formally declared open by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who welcomed participants and underscored the importance of due process and strict adherence to procurement guidelines.
“Transparency and accountability must remain the foundation of our procurement process. Every Head of Department must carefully study their budgets, plan appropriately and comply strictly with approved financial procedures,” the Chairman stated.
He further stressed the need for integrity and effective in-house auditing as essential tools for reinforcing internal control mechanisms within the council.
In his remarks, the Council Manager, Dr. Adekoya Adesanya, highlighted the necessity of observing established protocols in procurement and maintaining financial discipline.
“Strict compliance with budgetary provisions and procurement regulations is critical to delivering quality services to the people of Ibeju-Lekki,” he noted.
Earlier, the Head of Procurement, Miss Issa R. Titilola, described public procurement as a vital instrument for good governance, emphasizing key principles that must guide the process.
“Value for money, fairness, transparency, efficiency, integrity, competition and accountability must remain our guiding principles,” she said.
The programme also featured a presentation by the Facilitator, Wasiu A. Onanuga, who delivered an in-depth lecture on the effective implementation of procurement processes in local government administration.
“Public procurement involves the lawful and sustainable acquisition and disposal of goods and services. Compliance with procurement laws is non-negotiable if we are to achieve good governance,” he explained.
The event concluded with the formal inauguration of all statutory committees, marking a significant step toward strengthening institutional frameworks and promoting responsible governance in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji; the Leader of the House, Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi; the Chief of Staff, Hon. Issa Moruf Olayinka; Heads of Departments, Directors and other top management staff of the Council.
