Residents of Ibonwon community in Epe Constituency II gathered on Saturday, February 14, 2026, as the member representing the constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Oluwadahunsi Ogunkelu, officially laid the foundation for the long-awaited Ibonwon Town Hall.

Among dignitaries present were the APC Apex Leader, Epe Constituency II, Hon. Wasiu Odeyemi (WASTAB); former Lagos State Commissioner, Hon. Bamidele Onabokun; Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji-Anomo; Managing Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Mrs. Margaret Abimbola Adeleye; the Community Head of Ibonwon, High Chief AbdulGaniyu Ogebo; APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Mahmood Agbaraojo; Alhaji Olukoya, among others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Ogunkelu, who chairs the House Committee on Physical Planning, AGIS and Urban Development, described the Town Hall project as part of his broader effort to bridge infrastructural gaps within Epe Constituency II.
He stated that since assuming office, his focus has been on delivering projects that directly impact communities across Eredo and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDAs.
He noted that in addition to the Town Hall, he facilitated the ongoing construction of Ibonwon Town Hall Road and several other road projects across the constituency.
According to him, four additional roads have been approved in the 2026 budget for both Ikosi-Ejinrin and Eredo, while efforts are ongoing to advance the construction of Iraye Road in Eredo LCDA.
The lawmaker also referenced his role in facilitating the relocation of plank sellers from Oko-Baba to Ikosi-Ejinrin, explaining that 400 housing units were approved at Timber View by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to support the relocation, with an additional 200 units recently approved following further requests.
Community leaders at the event commended the initiative, noting that previous efforts to rebuild the old and dilapidated Town Hall on the same site had not materialised.
They described the new project as timely and significant for the development of Ibonwon.
Providing details of the construction, Engr. Olanipekun John Abiodun of Trustworth Homes and Properties, in partnership with Platinum Homes and Properties, stated that the 250-capacity Town Hall would be completed within six months.
The facility is expected to include office spaces, conveniences and parking space for up to 25 vehicles.
Hon. Ogunkelu also pledged to renovate the palace of the community head, as residents expressed optimism that the project would further strengthen social and civic activities within Ibonwon community.
