The organisers of the Epe Kayokayo Festival have congratulated His Royal Majesty, Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, on his appointment as the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement, the festival’s leadership described the appointment by Babajide Sanwo-Olu as a historic and well-deserved recognition of the monarch’s record of service, leadership and commitment to development.

The committee said the honour was a proud moment for Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division and Lagos State as a whole, noting that Oba Ogunsanwo’s contributions to governance and community development have earned him widespread respect.
The statement highlighted the transformation recorded in Ilara Kingdom since his ascension to the throne, as well as his tenure as Chairman of the Lagos Internal Revenue Service, where he was credited with driving reforms and strengthening revenue administration.
According to the organisers, the monarch’s leadership style rooted in discipline, innovation and compassion has consistently prioritised education, healthcare, tourism and grassroots development.

They noted that the office of Chancellor carries significant responsibility as the ceremonial head of the university, providing moral authority and strengthening ties between the institution and society.
The group also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for what it described as a thoughtful and strategic appointment aimed at advancing tertiary education in the state.
Expressing confidence in the monarch’s ability to excel in the new role, the organisers said his leadership would further enhance the university’s reputation for excellence, innovation and academic distinction.
