The Ogun State Government has distanced itself from reports alleging that Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye has been selected as the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Saturday, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, dismissed claims circulating in some quarters that an Ifa oracle had chosen Prince Kuye and that the state government had endorsed the outcome.

According to the commissioner, the government is neither involved in nor supportive of any such claim.
“The process for the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland is guided strictly by applicable laws, established procedures and recognised traditional customs,” the statement said.
He described suggestions that the government had approved any candidate through an oracle or informal arrangement as false and misleading.
The government also announced that the process of filling the vacant stool of the Awujale has been temporarily suspended following complaints and petitions regarding the selection procedure.

Officials said the suspension would allow for a review of the process to ensure it remains transparent, lawful and acceptable to all stakeholders.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and upholding due process in matters relating to traditional institutions across the state. It urged members of the public to rely on official communications and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing tension.
The stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland is one of the most prominent traditional institutions in Ogun State.
