Eko Hot Blog reports the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulGaniyu Adebowale Adegbesan, the revered Onise of Ise Land.
In a solemn message on behalf of the government and people of Ibeju-Lekki, the chairman extended heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Council of Chiefs, and the entire people of Ise Land, describing the monarch’s transition as a significant moment in the community’s history.
“The departure of a traditional ruler is never merely the loss of a person; it is the closing of a chapter in the history of a people,” Olowa stated.
He noted that Kabiyesi’s reign was marked by commitment to communal harmony, preservation of Yoruba tradition, and steady guidance in times of change.
According to him, the throne represents more than authority, serving as a custodian of culture, identity, and ancestral continuity.
“Traditional institutions remain foundational to our social stability and collective heritage. Through his leadership, Kabiyesi upheld the dignity of that sacred trust,” he said.
Olowa further reflected on the enduring impact of the late monarch’s reign, emphasizing that legacy lives on through strengthened institutions, preserved customs, and sustained unity.
“As we mourn, we also acknowledge that a monarch’s influence does not end with earthly departure. Legacy resides in the structures strengthened, the customs preserved, and the unity sustained during his reign,” he added.
The chairman prayed for the repose of the monarch’s soul and strength for the people of Ise Land during this period of mourning.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljanat Firdaus, and grant the royal household and the people of Ise Land the fortitude to bear this loss with faith and resilience.”
