The elections covered chairmanship and councillorship positions across the six FCT area councils — Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari Area Council, Gwagwalada Area Council, Kuje Area Council, Kwali Area Council and Abaji Area Council.
By-elections were also conducted in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
INEC’s declarations show that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in Abaji, Kwali, AMAC and Bwari Area Councils, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in Gwagwalada.
In the state by-elections, the APC clinched both seats in Rivers State.
President Tinubu urged the winners to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication, describing the mandate given to them as “a sacred trust.”

He also commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that the performance had translated into political gains for the APC.
The President further congratulated the APC national leadership, as well as the party’s leadership in Kano and Rivers states, and party members for the victories recorded at the polls.
Tinubu praised INEC, security agencies and voters for ensuring a peaceful and successful exercise. He added that the courage and discipline displayed by contestants enriched the democratic process.
According to the statement, the President said the successful conduct of the elections strengthened democratic institutions and called on INEC to continue improving electoral processes.
Meanwhile, reports indicated low voter turnout in several areas, while opposition parties alleged irregularities. The PDP has since inaugurated a special legal team to handle election petitions arising from the FCT Area Council polls.
