According to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the All Progressives Congress secured victories in Abaji, Kwali, AMAC and Bwari, while the PDP clinched Gwagwalada.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the party acknowledged that although it won fewer councils than anticipated, the success recorded was significant in light of what it described as widespread irregularities.
The PDP specifically congratulated Gwagwalada Chairman-elect Mohammed Kasim and the councillors declared winners by INEC, describing their triumph as remarkable despite alleged intimidation, heavy spending and abuse of power during the exercise.
Ememobong further alleged that there were documented instances, including video evidence, of security personnel interfering with the process, intimidating voters and removing result sheets from polling units.
To address disputes arising from the election, the party announced the formation of a legal team headed by its National Legal Adviser, Shafi Bara’u.

Aggrieved candidates were urged to promptly channel their complaints through the legal team to avoid missing statutory deadlines for filing petitions.
The statement also linked the low voter turnout to dissatisfaction with the Electoral Act 2026, arguing that public confidence in the electoral system has weakened.
It warned that the outcome of the council polls could signal potential challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections if reforms are not implemented.
The PDP called on the National Assembly and the President to take urgent steps to strengthen democratic processes and restore trust in the system.
