The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally rejected the results of the recently concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, describing the exercise as deeply flawed.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Rex I. Elanu, on Monday, the party cited widespread manipulation, voter suppression, and institutional failure.

“What occurred was not a democratic exercise but a coordinated assault on the will of the people,” the statement read. The AAC alleged that irregularities began even before election day, particularly in Kwali Area Council, where hundreds of voters were reportedly disenfranchised after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to account for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). “Official records shockingly showed that many PVCs had already been collected by unknown persons. INEC’s failure to provide clear explanations amounts to complicity in electoral fraud,” it added.
The party also criticised a curfew imposed by the FCT Minister, which allegedly prevented civil servants and other residents from reaching polling units in Abuja city centre. On election day, the AAC claimed that at a polling unit with over 5,000 registered voters, only 14 were allowed to vote. It further accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of engaging in vote buying across several polling units.
The AAC raised concerns over electoral violence, particularly in Kuje, where security personnel reportedly disrupted voting, used tear gas on voters, and seized election materials. “This reflects the desperation of the APC-led administration and its collaborators to subvert the democratic process,” the party said.
Citing visible voter apathy resulting from repeated incidents of fraud, intimidation, and monetary manipulation, the AAC rejected all results from areas where malpractice allegedly occurred. The party demanded independent investigations, prosecution of implicated officials, sanctions for vote buying, and nullification of compromised results.

“As a welfarist and revolutionary party, the AAC remains committed to defending the votes and democratic rights of Nigerians. We will not be silent,” the statement concluded, affirming plans to mobilise citizens against electoral fraud.
