Several prominent entertainers and business figures have publicly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the president, who already enjoys the backing of governors within the All Progressives Congress (APC), is now receiving renewed endorsements from socialites and celebrities under the banner of the City Boys Movement.

Among those who have openly expressed support are Obinna Iyiegbu (popularly known as Obi Cubana), Pascal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest), Cletus Oragwa (Zenco), Yul Edochie, Bolanle Ninalowo, Zack Orji, Adeniyi Johnson and comedian Seyi Law.

The City Boys Movement is a political advocacy platform championed by Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son. Obi Cubana has reportedly been appointed South-East Zonal Coordinator, tasked with mobilising young entrepreneurs and supporters within the region.
However, the growing endorsements have generated criticism from opposition figures. A youth leader of the Labour Party argued that the president has strategically cultivated influence across sectors, including politics and entertainment, ahead of the next election cycle.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party questioned the motives behind the movement, suggesting it represents elite interests rather than the broader electorate.
The political landscape has also shifted in recent months, with governors from opposition parties defecting to the APC, strengthening the ruling party’s foothold as the 2027 race approaches.
Observers say the mobilisation of influencers, combined with high-level political defections, signals early and deliberate positioning for what could become a fiercely contested election.
