Speaking at the gathering, Tinubu assured Nigerians, particularly the unemployed, that his administration was determined to decentralise policing to strengthen security at the grassroots level.
“To those unemployed, what I promise is that we will establish state police to combat insecurity in our local governments,” he said.
Reflecting on his administration’s economic reforms, the President expressed optimism that the benefits were gradually reaching sub-national governments. He maintained that while reforms require sustained effort, the outcome would ultimately strengthen the nation.
“The result of hard work is more work. But as long as we bridge together and move together, determined to rescue this country, the best is yet to come for Nigeria,” he added.
Tinubu also called for unity, sacrifice and collective responsibility, commending governors for their commitment to fulfilling electoral promises. He praised Mohammed Bago, Governor of Niger State, and Babagana Zulum of Borno State for their developmental initiatives, particularly youth empowerment and grassroots programmes.
Addressing Governor Zulum directly, Tinubu highlighted the values of discipline, sacrifice, faith and perseverance, urging leaders to continue fostering unity, community service and love for one another.
