The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, described the development as shocking and painful for the Corps.
He extended condolences to the family of the deceased, her colleagues and personnel across the country. Audi directed a high level delegation from the headquarters to visit the bereaved family and formally convey the organisation’s sympathy and support.
He assured that the late officer would be given a befitting burial and that all her service benefits would be paid to her family in accordance with public service regulations.
The Commandant General urged personnel to remain committed to their duties, while acknowledging the risks associated with emergency response and rescue operations. He said the incident served as a reminder of the hazards linked to tactical training exercises.
The NSCDC leadership admitted that stricter safety protocols and improved coordination during the simulation could have reduced the risk of the accident. Officers and personnel were advised to strictly adhere to operational safety standards, especially during high risk drills.
Authorities confirmed that an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing to ensure accountability and prevent a recurrence.

The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening workplace safety measures while continuing its mandate to protect lives and critical national infrastructure.
