The resignation comes at a time of significant political shifts in Adamawa State. Notably, Adamu was absent from the Government House last Thursday when Governor Fintiri officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
While Adamu’s resignation letter maintained a professional and appreciative tone toward the administration’s developmental vision, his exit fuels rumors of a deepening political divide between the Governor and the Atiku family.
Adamu described his tenure as an “honour of immense significance” and thanked the staff of the Ministry of Works and Energy, as well as the people of his home community in Jada, for their support.

He emphasized that while he is leaving the cabinet, his commitment to the progress of Adamawa State remains unchanged, hinting that his departure marks the beginning of a new chapter in his public service career.
Political observers are closely watching the Atiku family’s next moves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sources close to the former Vice President suggest that Adamu may be eyeing a seat in the Senate, though other reports indicate a potential governorship bid.
Meanwhile, his half-brother, Abba Atiku, is reportedly set to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives under the banner of the APC, highlighting a fascinating intra-family political dynamic.
