The event, coordinated by Hon. Maruf Odunayo, Senior Aide to Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, brought together prominent Islamic scholars, community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents from across the senatorial district.
The Chief Host, Chief Imam Abdulraheem Ademola Olatunji, welcomed participants and offered prayers for unity, peace, and sustained development in the district.
Delivering the lecture, Sheikh Ibrahim Alikunti, Chief Imam of Ikeoluwa Central Mosque, spoke on the importance of responsible leadership and the need for those in positions of authority to build lasting legacies.
“A good leader must serve with sincerity and the fear of Allah so that people will make positive references to him when he is no longer in office,” he said.
The cleric praised Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for his style of representation, noting that the lawmaker has remained focused on impacting lives positively rather than personal gain.
“He did not come to embezzle government funds but to change the lives of many for good. When a leader is upright and sincere, anyone who tries to bring him down will only bring himself down,” Sheikh Alikunti added.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Wale Anomo, applauded Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for his continuous developmental strides and for fostering unity among the people through faith-based engagements.
He further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for their dedication to governance and support for religious harmony across the state.
In his closing remarks, the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division and President, League of Imams and Alfas, Fadilat Sheikh Sa’adallah AbdulRahmon Abiola, commended Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for organizing the Ramadan Lecture across the 16 Local Government Areas and LCDAs under his senatorial district.
“It is not a small responsibility to organize such a programme across 16 local governments. This initiative shows commitment to the spiritual growth of the people,” he stated.
He explained that the programme was previously centralized in Lagos but that the Senator thoughtfully decentralized it to ease participation and bring it closer to the grassroots.
Prayers were thereafter offered for Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Governor of Lagos State, and the Deputy Governor, seeking divine wisdom and continued success in leadership.
Other religious leaders in attendance included Imam Lukman Balogun, Imam Zunuraen Balogun of Atere, Imam Raman Mustofa of Iganke, Imam Mikail Temidire, Imam Kehinde Adeleke of Ikosi, Imam Rafiu Abubaki of Imope, Imam Tajudeen Kolawole of Otta Land, Imam Maricaz Yusuf Adebayo, and Imam Musiliudeen Oshogbade.
The event further highlighted the intersection of faith, leadership, and community development during the holy month of Ramadan.
