Members of the Unified Local Government Muslim Staff Association, Ikosi-Ejinrin Branch, recently organized a Ramadan lecture titled Trust (Amanah):
Eko Hot Blog reports that A Sacred Responsibility at Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, bringing together council officials, religious leaders and members of the community for spiritual reflection.
The gathering witnessed the presence of Muslim staff of the council, top government functionaries and community stakeholders including
the Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman, Council Manager, Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, Special Advisers and staff from various departments.
Market men and women, women leaders and other community members were also in attendance.
The opening speech was delivered by Mr. Yustas Balogun, a community member of the Unified Local Government Muslim Staff Association,
who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of the Ramadan period as a time for reflection, unity and renewed commitment to righteousness.
In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of the council, Wale Raji Anomo, described politics and leadership as responsibilities that must be carried out with sincerity and the fear of God.
“Politics is a work of God and it is always important for everyone to play their part with sincerity. Good governance is like an act of worship when it is done with honesty and dedication.”
During the programme, the chairman demonstrated compassion by donating an artificial leg to Mr. Ademolu Okesanya, popularly known as Skede,
whose leg had been amputated for months. He also announced his appointment as a Senior Special Assistant.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Okesanya expressed gratitude to the chairman, acknowledging that he never expected such support.
“I never supported the chairman before; in fact, I was against him. I never imagined that in my time of need he would be the one to stand by me.”
Another beneficiary, Mr. Abdulraheem, also praised the chairman for his kindness and concern for the welfare of residents.
“This is not because we are close to him, but because he has a good heart and genuine compassion for his people.”
Delivering the Ramadan lecture, the Chief Imam of Agbowa, Abdulraheem Olatunji, spoke on the importance of trust and accountability in all aspects of life.
“As long as we are living beings, we all have relationships built on trust—parents, religious leaders, teachers, couples, children and political leaders all have responsibilities to fulfill.”
He emphasized transparency, accountability in leadership and the proper management of public resources, warning that betrayal of trust leads to loss of blessings, stagnation and lack of peace.
“Do not make promises you cannot fulfill, avoid greed over public property and always remember the Day of Judgment.”
The lecture served as a reminder to participants on the need to uphold integrity, responsibility and compassion in leadership and daily interactions.
