Idrissa Gana Gueye has expressed dissatisfaction with the Confederation of African Football’s decision to overturn the Africa Cup of Nations final result, a ruling that hands the title to Morocco and strips Senegal of their status as African champions.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision brings a dramatic twist to what had been a celebratory moment for Senegal, who believed they had secured continental glory on the night in Rabat. The reversal has since triggered widespread reactions across the football world.
Gueye, who captained Senegal in the final, reacted in a series of posts shared on his Instagram story on March 18, stressing that the team’s experience cannot be erased despite the ruling.
“Titles, trophies, medals… all of that is only temporary.
“What really matters is that every supporter can go home and be reunited with their family.
“The Senegalese people have shown who they are: dignified in victory, dignified in adversity.
“That is Teranga (Senegalese hospitality and spirit).”
While he avoided a detailed criticism, the midfielder made it clear he disagreed with the decision to overturn the result, noting that the unity and emotions shared by players and supporters remain intact.
“We know what we experienced that night in Rabat, and that, no one will ever be able to take away from us, God willing,” he added.

The development has left Senegalese players and fans grappling with the sudden loss of a title they had already celebrated, while Morocco are now officially recognised as champions following the ruling.
Gueye, however, ended on a note of resolve, signalling the team’s determination to respond to the setback.
