- FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has called on residents of the Federal Capital Territory to maintain their support for President Bola Tinubu, citing a deliberate shift in development toward previously underserved satellite towns.
- During an inspection of the Bwari–Kubwa road corridor on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of key projects in Karu, Apo-Karshi, and Kuje, aimed at reducing travel time to the city center.
- Wike also dismissed calls for a new regulatory body for real estate developers, insisting that strengthening the existing Department of Development Control is the more effective solution to curbing industry malpractice.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the visible infrastructure gains across Abuja’s satellite towns make it “difficult for anyone to win an election” against President Bola Tinubu in the territory.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking during an inspection tour of the Bwari–Kubwa road on Wednesday, Wike emphasized that the administration has successfully moved beyond the over-concentration of projects in the city center to ensure that rural and suburban communities experience meaningful development.

The Minister highlighted that the ongoing road expansions are designed to transform the lives of residents in areas like Kuje, who can now expect to reach the city center in approximately 25 minutes.
Wike noted that many of these communities are witnessing such high-level engineering and road construction for the first time, which he believes has solidified grassroots trust in the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
He further disclosed that several of these flagship projects are slated for commissioning to mark the anniversary of the President’s tenure.

Addressing the challenges within the FCT’s real estate sector, Wike pushed back against the creation of additional government agencies.
He argued that Nigeria already suffers from a “proliferation of agencies” and that the existing Department of Development Control possesses the necessary mandate to enforce the Abuja Master Plan.
He assured residents that the FCT Administration (FCTA) would prioritize strengthening these current structures to protect innocent citizens from exploitative developers and resolve malpractice complaints.
Wike concluded his tour by calling for national unity and collective support for the government’s efforts, particularly in the area of security.
As he extended his goodwill to the Muslim faithful for the remainder of the holy month, the Minister reiterated that the administration’s primary focus remains delivering tangible, life-changing infrastructure that bridges the gap between the city’s elite center and its vital satellite outskirts.
