EKEDC explained that the blaze significantly affected the Ibeju and Medallion 33kV feeders, destroying key components such as conductors and overhead lines, and leaving multiple communities without power supply.
“Please be informed that the current outage resulted from a fire incident that occurred after a vehicle collided with a stationary gas tanker,” the company said in a statement.
“The fire caused significant damage to the Ibeju and Medallion 33kV feeders. Our technical teams are currently working to replace the affected components and restore supply as quickly and safely as possible,” it added, while apologising to customers for the inconvenience.

Communities affected by the outage include Sangotedo, Majek, Fidiso, Awoyaya, Eputu, Lagasa, Losoro, Kajola, Onisan, and areas connected to the Medallion feeder, including Medallion Company.
The incident comes amid growing safety concerns in the axis, following a separate gas explosion reported earlier in the Ajah area, which led to casualties and property damage.
Residents in the affected locations have been urged to remain cautious while repair works continue, as EKEDC assures that electricity supply will be restored once it is safe to do so.
