Ojelabi said the party’s focus has now shifted to the process of selecting candidates for the upcoming elections, assuring members of a transparent and inclusive exercise.
He emphasised that the APC would not impose candidates, noting that every interested member is free to contest in line with the law and party guidelines.
According to him, the selection process will be conducted in strict compliance with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the 2026 Electoral Act (as amended), and other relevant regulations.

The chairman disclosed that the party would adopt direct primaries as its primary method for choosing candidates, while also allowing consensus arrangements where mutually agreed upon by stakeholders.
He, however, cautioned that nomination and administrative fees paid by aspirants would not be refundable.
Ojelabi further assured party members of a level playing field, reiterating the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, fairness, and transparency throughout the process.
He added that the party would promote inclusivity by encouraging greater participation of women, particularly those with strong grassroots support.
The chairman also urged members to maintain discipline and mutual respect as the party awaits official guidelines from its national leadership.
