The traditional ruler of the community, Chief Babalola Bolujare, the Olu of Aponmu-Lona, disclosed that the incident occurred amid an ongoing dispute involving alleged invasion by hoodlums who had earlier destroyed farmlands and crops belonging to residents.
According to him, the community had already petitioned the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services over the invasion before the latest incident.

Bolujare explained that while investigations into the earlier attack were still ongoing, residents intercepted individuals allegedly attempting to contaminate the stream, which serves as their primary source of drinking water.
He added that the suspect was apprehended on the spot, while two other alleged accomplices were later arrested during police investigations.
The monarch called on authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved, warning against any attempt to downplay the incident.
“We are calling on the Inspector General of Police to ensure this matter is not swept under the carpet,” he said.
The situation is further complicated by a lingering land dispute between communities in the area, which has raised fears of a potential breakdown of law and order if not properly managed.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, said the command is aware of the incident and has commenced an investigation, although he did not specify the number of suspects currently in custody.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to determine the motive behind the alleged act and to prevent any escalation of tensions within the community.
