EKO HOT BLOG reports that Alike was announced as the new state chairman alongside 23 other executive members, even as conflicting claims continue to emerge over the authentic leadership of the party in the state.
The announcement was made by the National Collation Chairman from the party secretariat, Sem Andrew Uchendu, who said he supervised congresses across the unit, ward, local government, and state levels.
However, the development has intensified confusion within the party, coming less than 24 hours after a member of the party’s National Executive Committee, Rowland Owie, declared Nosa Ehima as the duly elected state chairman.
Further complicating the situation, the incumbent chairman, Kennedy Odion, whose tenure is expected to end on May 19, said he was not aware of any congress conducted in the state, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the process.
Uchendu insisted that the congress followed due process and was guided by consensus arrangements reportedly reached by party stakeholders in the state, including former All Progressives Congress National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
He said the exercise was aimed at building a “well-structured leadership” capable of strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
Speaking after his emergence, Tony Alike pledged to unite aggrieved members and reposition the party for stronger political relevance in Edo State and beyond.
He said consultations had already begun with key stakeholders, including a visit to Odigie-Oyegun, as part of efforts to stabilise the party.
Alike also hinted at a broader political agenda, saying the party would soon unveil its policy direction and strategy ahead of the next general election cycle.
He emphasised the need for national renewal, stressing that political leadership must reflect the interests of all Nigerians rather than a select few.

The leadership tussle now leaves the ADC in Edo State divided, with multiple factions laying claim to the party’s structure ahead of upcoming political activities.
