EKO HOT BLOG reports that Adighije, who represented Abia Central Senatorial District in the Senate, made the statement on Tuesday in Umuahia during a ceremony held in his community.
He urged residents of Ikwuano and Umuahia South local government areas to align with the APC as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to take shape.
Expressing confidence in the president’s leadership style, Adighije said Tinubu understands Nigeria’s challenges and is taking the country in the right direction.
“The President, Bola Tinubu, seems to know Nigeria better than all of us. And he is going in the right direction,” he said.
The former senator cited what he described as recent improvements in economic indicators, particularly the cost of living, as evidence of progress under the current administration.
“Now, I understand food prices are beginning to go down. Fuel prices are going down. I think if he continues in that direction for another four years, Nigeria will get better than this,” Adighije added.
He stressed that political support from Ikwuano and Umuahia would be crucial to securing Tinubu’s re election, calling on the people to identify with the ruling party.
Addressing fears of a one party state, Adighije dismissed such concerns, insisting that the APC remains committed to democratic principles.
“Our party is not for a one party system. We believe in democracy and giving room for opposition. There is no way Nigeria will be a one party country,” he said.
Quoting President Tinubu, Adighije noted that politicians are free to associate with any party of their choice, adding that the APC remains open to new members from across the South East.

On his acceptance as patron of the Ikwuano Umuahia Initiative, Adighije described the gesture as humbling and pledged continued commitment to grassroots development and leadership guidance in Abia State.
