According to him, items recovered from the suspect include eight JAMB examination slips and a notebook containing names and exam numbers of students, which he could not properly explain.
The police said the arrest followed a tip-off that the suspect had been collecting 2026 JAMB examination slips from students who visited a cyber café in Atani to check their exam centres.

During questioning, Nwombu reportedly claimed to be a JAMB coordinator in the area, a claim that raised suspicion among staff of the computer centre, who subsequently alerted the police.
He was arrested while allegedly attempting to flee upon sighting the operatives.
The police said investigations are ongoing, adding that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further inquiry.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting the integrity of public examinations and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
