EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement dated April 20, 2026, the APC stalwart said his decision followed extensive consultations with family members, political associates, community leaders and supporters across the district.
He explained that the move was aimed at promoting unity within the party and ensuring political stability in Southern Kaduna.
“I have decided to step down from my aspiration under the platform of the APC and throw my full support behind the incumbent Distinguished Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, in his quest for a second term,” he said.
Joseph added that his decision was driven by patriotism, political maturity and the need to sustain cohesion within the party.
He noted that his long standing relationship with Katung, which spans more than three decades, influenced his choice to back the incumbent.
The APC chieftain said supporting Katung would help consolidate ongoing development efforts under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Uba Sani.
He cited projects such as the proposed Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan as reasons to support continuity.
Joseph expressed appreciation to his supporters across Southern Kaduna for their loyalty and encouragement throughout his political journey.

He assured them of his continued commitment to the development of the region despite stepping down from the race and urged them to support Katung’s second term bid.
Joseph also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, pledging to remain active in the party while continuing his humanitarian and philanthropic efforts.
