EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the APC National Vice-Chairman, South-East, Ijeomah Arodiogbu.
According to the statement, Uzodimma remains focused on governance, development and improving the welfare of residents of Imo State despite what the party described as attempts to tarnish his image.
“Uzodimma remains unwavering in his commitment to delivering good governance, sustainable development, and improved welfare for the people of Imo, and will not be distracted by such baseless accusations,” the statement read.
The APC alleged that the accusations emerged shortly after reports surfaced that the governor may contest for the Imo East senatorial seat in 2027.
The party said it had observed what it described as a coordinated blackmail campaign against the governor since speculation about his political ambition became public.
“While every Nigerian has the right of opinion, that should not be a justification to blackmail a citizen who is exercising his constitutional right,” the statement added.
Uzodimma had been accused of diverting ₦800 billion allegedly contributed by members of the Progressive Governors Forum for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
However, the APC South-East dismissed the allegation as “factually incorrect and logically untenable,” arguing that no official campaign funding process currently exists because political campaigns have not officially commenced.
“With the legal restriction on political campaigns still in force until September, it is practically impossible to divert or misappropriate resources for an exercise that has neither started nor reached any stage requiring funding,” the party stated.
The APC further maintained that the Progressive Governors Forum was not a campaign organisation and could not be responsible for keeping campaign funds.
Reacting to the alleged ₦800 billion figure, the party described the claim as unrealistic, noting that it would mean each of the 31 APC governors contributed approximately ₦26 billion.
“This figure is not only unrealistic but laughable. No governor, regardless of political affiliation, would commit such a colossal sum to a national campaign while simultaneously prosecuting re-election or other critical state-level political activities,” the statement said.
The party also defended Uzodimma’s record in public office, insisting that he had not been credibly linked to any financial misconduct.

It urged opposition figures to focus on presenting practical solutions and policy alternatives rather than spreading what it described as propaganda.
“Nigerians are sophisticated enough to distinguish between genuine governance and cheap political fiction,” the APC added.
