The Nigerian Naira maintained relative stability against the United States Dollar across both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that checks from Bureau De Change operators and market monitoring platforms showed that the dollar traded around ₦1,395 in the black market, while the official Central Bank of Nigeria rate remained within the ₦1,370 range.
The exchange rate continues to fluctuate due to foreign exchange demand, import pressures, market liquidity and ongoing monetary policies by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has continued to advise Nigerians seeking foreign exchange for legitimate transactions to make use of official banking channels instead of the parallel market.
Meanwhile, forex analysts believe the naira may continue to witness mild fluctuations in the coming days as demand for the dollar remains high across different sectors of the economy.

Market observers also noted that increased trading activities in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt contributed to varying rates among black market traders during the weekend.
