The crash involved an unregistered tipper truck, a Nissan vehicle with registration number Ondo WWW-327 TA, and an unregistered Mate 90 motorcycle carrying the victims.
The deceased, identified as Lawal Adegoke and his brother, were said to be popular fruit sellers operating around the Iyeoma area in Alagbaka.
Residents alleged that officials of the VIO had stopped several vehicles for document checks, causing heavy traffic congestion before the tipper truck rammed into vehicles and motorcycles trapped along the road.
The victims were rushed to the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital in Akure, where doctors confirmed them dead on arrival.

An eyewitness, identified simply as Kunle, said the tipper truck lost control and crashed into multiple vehicles and motorcycles.
“I had to run for my life. My vehicle was also badly damaged in the process,” he said.
Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force later arrived at the scene to prevent angry youths from attacking the VIO office and its officials.
Police officers from the Ijapo Division subsequently evacuated the bodies to a morgue after calm was restored.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said officers responded swiftly for documentation and investigation.
He added that some aggrieved youths attempted to attack VIO officials at the scene, but police operatives intervened to prevent further violence.
Jimoh sympathised with the families of the deceased and urged motorists to obey traffic rules and maintain safe speed limits to avoid preventable accidents.
