- Intelligence operatives attached to the Gombe State Police Command have discovered a hidden supply of 119 rounds of live 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition concealed inside a white sack.
- The military-grade ammunition was strategically stashed beneath a tree directly opposite a public cemetery along the high-traffic Kalshingi Road in Kwadon, within the Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area.
- Following a comprehensive but unsuccessful tactical sweep of the adjoining bushes, police command leadership has ordered a significant scale-up of local monitoring and counter-intelligence networks.
Releasing an official operational dispatch, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed that a targeted recovery mission was executed after a tip-off was routed to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Kwadon Division.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the intelligence detailed the presence of a highly irregular and suspicious white sack hidden beneath a tree opposite a local burial ground, prompting an immediate deployment of elite field detectives to the location.

A meticulous forensic examination of the seized bundle yielded a cache of dangerous operational materials.
Beyond the primary haul of 119 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition tailored for assault rifles, police investigators also recovered two empty ammunition storage packets, a green carrier bag, and two bottles containing local moringa seeds.
While tactical units immediately fanned out to comb the immediate vicinity and nearby rural paths for suspects or active couriers, no arrests were logged during the opening phase of the operation, suggesting the weapons may have been dropped off for later retrieval by criminal syndicates.
The tactical discovery arrives amid an aggressive, multi-state crackdown on illegal firearms dealers and regional arms runners across northern Nigeria.
Mirroring Gombe’s preemptive strike, the neighboring Kano State Police Command recently executed a high-stakes sting operation through its specialized Anti-Kidnapping Squad, tracking down a major illicit arms broker in the Dandinshe Quarters of the Dala Local Government Area and successfully seizing three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles alongside an assortment of close-quarters weaponry.

Reacting to the successful recovery, Gombe State Commissioner of Police Bello Yahaya commended the local community members whose timely reporting directly enabled the operation.
Yahaya emphasized that contemporary policing relies heavily on active, trust-based civic partnerships to build robust defensive networks.
He urged all state residents to maintain heightened situational awareness and continually channel credible, real-time security data to nearby administrative posts, noting that active civilian cooperation remains the most effective tool to neutralize evolving criminal networks before they can strike.
