The Ebola virus, which causes a severe and frequently fatal hemorrhagic illness in humans and primates, is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with infected blood, body tissues, or bodily fluids.
To safeguard local borders, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, announced that medical surveillance networks have been thoroughly reinforced across all 33 local government councils.
Under the direct mandate of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration, all public and private health facilities have been placed on heightened alert.
Furthermore, specialized Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers, medical laboratories, and regional diagnostic teams have been strategically positioned to execute rapid containment operations should an emergency scenario materialize within the territory.

While the Technical Working Group for the virus has been fully operationalized, Dr. Ajetunmobi firmly clarified that there is absolutely no current footprint of the disease within Oyo State or the broader Nigerian federation.
She urged community leaders, traditional rulers, religious clerics, and clinicians to maintain maximum vigilance and immediately flag any individuals presenting severe symptoms such as sudden onset of high fever, extreme fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, or unexplained bleeding.
The state health ministry is currently maintaining a synchronized workflow with the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to ensure robust defenses remain fully funded and operational.
