The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled the final list of candidates nominated by political parties for the bye-elections scheduled for June 20, 2026, across several senatorial districts and legislative constituencies.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the commission disclosed this in a statement on Monday, confirming that elections will be conducted to fill vacant seats in Ondo South, Nasarawa North, Rivers South East and Enugu North senatorial districts, as well as the Zuru State Constituency in Kebbi State and the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State.

For the Ondo South Senatorial District contest, political parties fielded Adesanya Olaoluwa (APP), Faduyile Francis Adedayo (APC), Akinwumi Adeolu Harrison (APM), and Nejo Funso Clement (BP).
In Nasarawa North Senatorial District, the candidates are Halilu Danladi Envwulu-Aza (APC), Maku Labaran (LP), John Paul Araneshri (NNPP), and Emmanuel David Ombugadu (PDP).

The Rivers South East Senatorial race will feature Douglas Fabeeke Beeka (AA), Osarosaka Ebenezer Erewari (APC), Sam Kinanee Barikpoa (LP), and Nwogu Olaka Johnson (PDP).
For the Enugu North Senatorial District, voters will choose among Asogwa Ikeje Israel (APC), Aneke Kingsley Chukwuebuka (BP), and Ezeme Nestor Chika (PDP).
In the Kebbi State House of Assembly bye-election for Zuru Constituency, Garba Aiki Rabiu of the APC will face Aliyu Galadima Muhammad of the LP.
Meanwhile, the contest for the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency seat in Kano State will involve Rabiu Shuaibu (APC), Lawan Garba Haruna (APM), and Abubakar Yahaya Muhammad (LP).

The vacancies arose from a combination of appointments and deaths. In Ondo State, the seat became vacant after Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The Rivers South East seat became vacant following the death of Barinada Mpigi, while Nasarawa North lost its representative after the passing of Godiya Akwashika. Similarly, the Enugu North Senatorial seat became vacant after the death of Okey Ezea.
INEC also noted that the bye-elections will hold on the same day as the governorship election in Ekiti State, making June 20 a significant day on the nation’s electoral calendar.
