The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, following consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, and stakeholders across the country.
According to the party, Amaechi’s selection was informed by his performance as runner-up in the ADC presidential primaries and his extensive record in public service at both state and national levels.
The ADC said Amaechi’s political experience as former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor of Rivers State, and Minister of Transportation makes him well-positioned to complement Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition.
The party added that the pairing reflects a deliberate effort to build a broad-based national platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s political and economic challenges.
“The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), after extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women stakeholders, and representatives of all geopolitical zones, is proud to announce that the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been selected as the Vice-Presidential Candidate of our great party for the 2027 Presidential Election,” the statement read.
The party noted that Amaechi’s emergence as runner-up in the presidential primaries demonstrated his strong support base and relevance within the party structure.
It further described the Atiku-Amaechi combination as a partnership of experienced statesmen with the capacity to deliver effective governance, economic recovery, and national unity.
The ADC also highlighted Amaechi’s record in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and transportation reforms during his tenure as governor and minister.
According to the party, the ticket brings together two leaders with deep governance experience and a shared commitment to national development.
“The proposed partnership between His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi represents more than a political alliance; it is the coming together of two tested statesmen with the experience, national reach, and leadership capacity required to rescue Nigeria,” the statement added.
The party urged members, coalition partners, and Nigerians to support the joint ticket, describing it as a step toward rebuilding trust in governance and delivering results.

It expressed confidence that the Atiku-Amaechi ticket would strengthen its political coalition and inspire nationwide support ahead of the 2027 elections.
