According to Usman, Mujugu allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire on the security team upon sighting them. The operatives responded, leading to his death during the exchange.
The operation also led to the arrest of another suspected gang member, identified as Bube Tukur, at the same location.
Police investigations revealed that the deceased suspect and the arrested accomplice were members of an eight-man gang accused of carrying out kidnapping activities in several communities within Bagudo Local Government Area.
The affected communities include Geza, Adawa, Matsinkai, Sharabi, Illela, Suru and Dakin Gari, as well as neighbouring settlements.

Usman stated that the gang was linked to the abduction of a resident, Alhaji Abu Geza, from Geza Village.
He added that security operatives rescued the victim unharmed from the hideout during the operation.
A locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge were also recovered from the scene, while efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
