EKO HOT BLOG reports that the government had earlier introduced a daily curfew from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. across the affected councils as part of measures to strengthen security after the kidnapping. The restriction was later extended by an additional 24 hours on Thursday.
The affected local government areas are Atiba, Atisbo, Irepo, Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Olorunsogo, Oriire, Oorelope, Saki West, and Saki East. The councils share boundaries with the Old Oyo National Park, an area that has recently come under increased security focus following the incident.
Announcing the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Ibadan, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said residents of the affected communities could now return to their normal daily activities.
Oyelade expressed appreciation to residents for their cooperation, patience, and understanding throughout the period the curfew remained in force.
He said the state government recognised the sacrifices made by the affected communities in support of efforts to restore security and maintain public safety.
The commissioner added that the government was closely monitoring the security situation across the affected areas and would continue to assess developments.
He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to bring the kidnapping situation under control while strengthening security measures across the affected communities.

Oyelade also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue supporting security agencies as the government works to address the security challenges.
