- The Oyo State chapter of the City Boy Movement has donated life-changing mobility equipment to more than 300 persons with disabilities (PWDs) during a community outreach event in Igboora.
- State Director-General Olufemi Onireti clarified that the initiative is driven purely by humanitarian goodwill rather than 2027 political ambitions, emphasizing a focus on bringing dignity and independent movement to vulnerable citizens.
- Following a successful outreach in Ogbomoso, organizers revealed that the mobility support scheme will soon target additional underserved clusters within the Oke-Ogun and Ibadan zones.
The push for social inclusion and the physical independence of persons with disabilities (PWDs) received a significant boost on Saturday, June 27, 2026, as the Oyo State division of the City Boy Movement distributed essential mobility aids to hundreds of vulnerable citizens.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the intervention took place at the central Community Hall in Igboora, the administrative headquarters of the Ibarapa Central Local Government Area.

Benefitting over 300 residents who have long battled systemic and financial limitations regarding their physical movement, the project was hailed as a monumental turning point for the local community.
Detailing the underlying vision behind the project, the state Director-General of the movement, Olufemi Onireti, explained that the distribution exercises form a core pillar of the group’s ongoing grassroots humanitarian interventions.
Onireti disclosed that the organisation had previously carried out an identical distribution model within the Ogbomoso axis and is currently optimizing plans to expand its logistical reach to other parts of the state, including the Oke-Ogun and Ibadan zones.
He noted that the specific focus on physical challenges was necessary due to the high costs associated with specialized gear, which often leaves underserved individuals isolated.
Addressing common skepticism surrounding large-scale civic projects, Onireti explicitly decoupled the outreach from any political campaign ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
He maintained that the welfare of the citizenry should transcend political aspirations, noting that true leadership involves improving everyday lives without expecting electoral returns.

Echoing this stance, the state Director for Persons with Disabilities within the movement, Adebambo Olabisi, stressed that the lack of affordable assistive equipment had historically crippled the economic autonomy of many local families.
She pointed out that providing these tools serves as an immediate structural bridge toward restoring self-respect and basic mobility.
Expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the recipient population, local resident Saidat Odesanmi described the donation as a profoundly transformative event that would dramatically reduce dependence on family members for daily survival.

While acknowledging the value of the physical equipment, Odesanmi seized the opportunity to call upon corporate entities, philanthropic bodies, and public ministries to institutionalize sustainable follow-up structures.
She urged relevant authorities to complement the gesture by developing targeted vocational skill acquisition pipelines, micro-business funding, and structured workplace placements to ensure that PWDs across Oyo State achieve permanent economic self-reliance.
