The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that another building collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, described the reports as false and misleading.

According to him, the agency immediately deployed emergency personnel to the location after receiving information about the alleged incident.
However, after carrying out a comprehensive assessment of the area, officials found no evidence of another building collapse.
“Following the receipt of the information, the agency immediately deployed personnel to assess the reported location. After a thorough sweep of the area, no evidence of a second building collapse was found,” the statement said.
Oke-Osanyintolu urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it, warning that false emergency alerts could divert critical resources and delay responses to genuine emergencies where lives are at risk.

He noted that the spread of inaccurate reports places unnecessary pressure on emergency responders and hampers rescue operations.
The LASEMA boss also commended residents for remaining vigilant and encouraged them to continue reporting emergencies through the appropriate channels, allowing first responders to verify incidents before such information is widely circulated.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property through prompt, coordinated and professional emergency response under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The clarification comes in the wake of the recent collapse of a two-storey building near Alakija Bus Stop in Satellite Town, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, which claimed 9 lives and left 27 others injured.
The earlier incident triggered a large-scale rescue operation involving multiple emergency agencies, with responders spending 2 days recovering victims trapped beneath the rubble.
